Mr. Powell joined RED CAPITAL GROUP, LLC in April 2007. Mr. Powell heads up the Chicago office and is responsible for enhancing RED’s existing relationships, creating new relationships with both national and regional borrowers, as well as expanding Red's originations capacity around the country. He has over 35 years of experience in commercial real estate, including nearly a decade with Fannie Mae where he held a number of positions within the Multifamily Group’s conventional flow business including seniors housing, student housing and manufactured housing and more recently for ensuring the underwriting quality and credit compliance of all Fannie Mae Housing and Community Development Division assets including Multifamily. Mr. Powell is a member of the Urban Land Institute and currently serves on the Seniors Housing Council. In addition, he is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mercy Housing Lakefront and is also a member of the Board of Directors of Mercy Portfolio Services . He previously served as a member of the Board of the Community Investment Corporation and the National Investment Center. Mr. Powell holds a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning degree from the University of Virginia as well as an undergraduate degree from Lafayette College.
